A love note to decay
This is my love note to decay, to the inevitable breakdown intrinsic to every cell, to the ambiguous privilege of organic matter – and to the ambiguous privilege of organic matter to decompose and allow regeneration and more life. We are processes not things. Or perhaps we are just channels for the flow from one form of matter to another. Whatever it is – fungi eat rocks, plants soak up sunlight, and somehow, this is exactly what needs to happen for me to be alive. This collective potential to create new growth is mindblowing. This collaborative breaking away from the perpetual existence of minerals, daring to exchange it for the ambiguous privilege of decaying and being alive is just beautiful.
